While the metaphor of the habit is very interesting, I tend to disagree. It is not only about a habit that changed. It is also about the way how creative work is being done that changes. However, in an organization of work, nothing much changed. Let's see it on recruiting, where companies still try to push as much cv's as possible into their hiring funnel to "select" one. There is an enormous waste of money spent on the automation of this process. While it is much cheaper to build a human capital building strategy and tailor it for people already on board. It has many positive side effects. The new way of work requires a great amount of teamwork, and employees being active as co-entrepreneurs, at all levels of the organization. When company culture is not adapted to these new requirements, no wonder there is a clash between people and organization. The loss of engagement is then a natural consequence. Working from home on task-based work arrangements is history. Video conferencing is not a solution for everything, especially spontaneous innovations, which co-entrepreneurs should deliver. We are at a unique moment in time when there is an opportunity to radically restructuralize the organizations and abandon old bureaucratic setups.

PS: Here in Europe I do not see any signs of great resignation, it is apparently a US phenomenon.
