This belief of people that the best performers will quickly find a new job elsewhere irritates me a lot. Why then there is so much great talent unemployed for months and years? Why do they only get some short 3-6 months projects now and then well below their experience level? What do I see here around in my bubble? These people face issues like being too overqualified, too old (from 40+ it is becoming very serious), and possibly too expensive. Or a new mantra - "we seek for a medior". Most companies do not have calculated expected contributions, and even if people show them the benefits, the company just does not know how to handle it. No one cares about the real contribution. Depends on the area of expertise, but it is not that easy for high performers to find a new job easily. Priority is given to the uneducated, unskilled, and young.
