The things are far more complex, Umar. In good times, anyone can be a „leader“. In bad times, it is a different story. The democracy, you are referring to is for sure gone, and I am not sure it has ever existed. The political parties are no longer about ideas on how to manage the country for the better. It is rather a front end of big corporations, where those „leaders“ are in fact their employees. Well, elected but still employees. Many have no proper education nor will to understand, not to mention to solve, a complex problems societies are facing to. Some are prisoners of their prejudices arising from their disconnect from the real world. And some are just corrupted. Immigration is just one complex problem. Quick solutions are more popular than coordinated efforts to resolve the root causes of the problem. If you ask me about the vision and strategy of the west for its own future......

I am not with you about Putin. For 30 years we heard only propaganda. Nonexistent housing policy? Russia is guilty. Collapsed public funds and high inflation? Russia is guilty. Poor arrangements in education systems? Russia is guilty. In front of every election, the real problem has nearly never been a topic. But „danger of evil in Russia“ was always on the table. No wonder, Russia turned away. Sanctions have never led to a solution. It caused pain to the innocent and led to radicalism. Involving collaboration, trade and integration are what is missing. And the art of diplomacy. Which cant be done, sadly, if there is no vision, direction, or leadership.
