Michiel, I do not understand, why did you started Holacracy when you are agile consulting butique. I would opt for Agile management instead, which you basically advise to your clients, or not?

I am not sure, if we understand the word consensus correctly. Consensus to me is all affected parties are involved and decision is taken, which is most acceptable to all. It is also one of principles of agile management, and quite common for scandinavian cultures. Anti-consensus culture is based on extreme individualism, where peron does decision without consulting with with anyone in extreme form. Typical for US culture. Holacracy is based on US culture. Or it is my impression from training with Brian Robertson.

I was interested in Holacracy because I see vertical bureaucracy more and more as impediment for agile organizations and looking for better form of fluid org. charts. There are many good things there. However, I was a bit dissapointed from individualistic nature, from mechanism of meetings which were more facilitation exercises than focusing on problem solving. Purpose of agile management is to create environment where people are intrinsically motivated and engaged, but this mechatronic part was killing the internal joy. I think unsuitable for highly creative environment. But it is possible to build something better on the top of it.
